Through the interview with the fashion influencer and store owner Shashvat we were also able to procure information about his store and what it exactly does and in what ways it benefits the culture and him as a whole.
Describe in short, What Homecourt and LeFam shop both do?
"Homecourt is a new concept that features a unique curation of streetwear brands from all over the world and makes them available to the Indian market. It does this by selling these items at resale prices, which are a premium over the original retail prices and some items that are also way below retail prices.
The inventory in homecourt comprises of clothing, sneakers and accessories that can be further divided into new and used products. In India the concept of used products is unheard of and is something that we’ve been pushing for a while. To most Indian’s this maybe totally alien but the used product industry is beginning to grow because it makes products that were initially far too expensive, affordable.
At Homecourt we ensure that the entire Indian market has access to streetwear locally, its affordable to them and we make sure that our customers only get 100% authentic products when dealing with us, therefore they are safe at all times."
What is your goal with home court and how do you expect to influence the industry
in the coming years?
"Our goal with homecourt is to educate the basic Indian consumer on cultures and concepts that are the very backbone of modern day streetwear like skateboarding, basketball ,hip hop and sneaker culture, which India has never had enough exposure to. Through this newly introduced knowledge we want to transform the entire Indian wardrobe and break the Indian stereotype of dressing sense by making streetwear essential in every closet throughout India.
We want to slowly move away from only doing hyped fashion and start introducing vintage clothing, skateboarding brands, affordable sneakers & clothing, upcoming streetwear brands, etc. as we believe this will be our unique selling point.
From our current data and sales we see strong levels of demand in India’s metropolitans like Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi but with Homecourt one of our top goals is to grow our business pan India by entering into tier 2 and tier 3 cities by 2023, we see exponential growth in these cities and plan on entering this again through the education of people via social media, media platforms and influencers.
Homecourt’s level of curation in streetwear is highly unique and we believe that we have already set and will continue to set the highest standards in the industry In the coming years by being the benchmark."
