Debatably one of the most awaited and hyped collection. Awarded shoe of the year for 2017 and maybe 2018. This collection did not only make Off White mainstream but it also helped boost up Nikes sales. Statistics show Nike sales have gone up ever since they dropped this collection. This collection made it's official descend on 20th nov 2017, the first few pairs dropped around this time, and till today over a year later more and more pairs are dropping, we can see new colour ways being aired on Instagram pages and leak accounts every week. It does not look like Virgil will stop to drop any nike x off white any soon.
If you're confused then let me give you a brief, Nike as you may now is one of the leading sneaker/sportswear brand, Nike a shoe brand known by everyone having a collaboration with a high end/streetwear brand like Off white really shook the sneaker community. Off white by Virgil Abloh found in 2012 and is mainly based in Milan, the brand known for printing it's signature crosses and Xs on its clothing has made it way to the top in front of “hypebeasts” and drip gods. The brand was able to rise to even higher fame after collaborating with Nike and releasing “The Ten” collection where Virgil Abloh gave his own twist to many famous Nike silhouettes such as the Vapormax, air Jordan 1, zoom fly and air force 1 and many more.
When the original Ten dropped they were going for a lot of money and as more and more pairs dropped the resell prices started dropping as well, but due to the fact that more pairs were dropping the original pairs started going for even more money.Christmas had come early for resellers!
One pair that has been just going up and up in resale is the Off white Nike air jordan 1 in the Chicago colour way.The resale for the first set of pairs could be ranging from anywhere between 800-2000 dollars.
Virgil is dropping new colour ways every month, he has been focusing on a pair of colours for the last few pairs, and he concluded that these will be the last set of pairs to drop from “The Ten” Collection.
Want to know what separates this collection from the others? Tune back in for part 2 tomorrow!
